The BMW Concept Active Tourer has been revealed ahead of the Paris Motor Show, previewing BMW’s new FWD direction. We recently had Mercedes roll out their take on the BMW 1 Series with the new A Class, and now the roles are reversed with BMW revealing their take on the Mercedes B Class with the BMW Concept Active Tourer. The BMW Concept Active Tourer is a preview of BMW’s front wheel drive future in the small premium sector, even if the Concept Active Tourer is notionally 4WD thanks to its a 67bhp electric motor driving the back axle in this hybrid setup.
There are less than two weeks left for European design students to submit their exterior entry to the Car Design News - Opel/Vauxhall Interactive Design competition. The competition, which closes to entries on Friday February 11th, asks students to design a lounge exterior, based around the design of one of the three finalists of the interior competition. The third annual Car Design Awards China competition came to an end earlier this evening as the winners of the 10 categories were announced along with the nomination for 2012 Student Designer of the Year - Xiao Hangjie, a student at Hunan University. The awards ceremony was held at the studios of CH-Auto in Beijing in the presence of an audience of renowned designers and judges from both domestic and international OEMs, with esteemed designer Chris Bangle acting as master of ceremonies.
